含义

1、festival 英[?fest?vl]，美[?fest?vl] 英式发音与美式发音是一样的

n. 节日;(音乐、戏剧、**等的)会演，节;节期;喜庆日;

adj. 节日的;

2、vacation 英[veken]，美[veken] 英式发音与美式发音是一样的

n. (美国学校的)假期;(法庭的)休庭期;

vi. 度假;

3、holiday 英[?h?l?de?]，美[?hɑ?l?de?] 英式发音与美式发音是不一样的

n. 假日，休息天;〈主英〉假期;公众假日，节日;宗教节日，圣日，宗教祭日;外出度假时期;（一年中带薪的）休假，年假;（涂料施工中偶然发生的）漏涂，空斑;〈美军俚〉（一件）忘了做的工作;

用法

festival的用法

1、festival的意思是“节日”,多指民俗或宗教节日,用作专有名词时,其前须加定冠词; 有时还可指音乐、戏剧、**等会演性的节日。

2、表示“假日”的意思时，festival指民俗或宗教节日,并含有定期欢度的意味。

The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming.

中秋节就要到了。

We spend most of the Spring Festival at home.

vacation的用法

1、vacation的基本意思是“假期,休假”,主要用于大学停课放假长达多周的假日或法院停止开庭,在美式英语中,凡是较长时间的休假都可用这个词。

2、在固定短语on?vacation中,?vacation前不用冠词; 在get a?vacation, spend a?vacation, take a?vacation等短语中,?vacation须用不定冠词a。

holiday的用法

2、holiday作“休假期”解时常用于复数形式,是英国用法。
