fool与idiot辨析

It can be used both a noun and a verb.And of course it can be used as an adj.

首先说一下fool

eg:She is nobody s fool when it comes to dealing with difficult patients.

fool around 干蠢事

eg:Stop fooling around and sit down .

Idiot

他只能做名词

eg:Not that switch ,you idiot.不是那个开关，你这个蠢蛋．

一般用stupid自嘲比较多，比如说I'm so stupid! fool 常用在make fool of oneself（出丑）中。就语气而言stupid要强烈些。不过感情色彩来说stupid不一定有贬义。而fool就不同了，比如说一个人真蠢：What a fool！ 它们还有一个最重要的区别是在词性上面，stupid是形容词， fool是名词。

表傻瓜的名词用得多的是moron和idiot, 当然还可以说blockhead, chowder head, flathead, addle head, simpleton。 骂人的话说loser相当于龊人，ass相当于混蛋。

表示笨的形容词还有dull, foolish, silly, thickheaded, 身体上的笨拙用clumsy或awkward。
