你是问 zoo 的复数为什么直接加 s 而不是加 es？

因为 zoo 没有加 es 的必要，直接加 s 就可以了。国内英语教学在名词复数是加 s 还是加 es 方面一直都存在一个误区，将单词的拼写作为依据。比如，见到以 x, ch, sh 和元音字母 o 等结尾的单词要加 es。这实际上只讲对了一半——形式上似乎是这样。但是，加 es 的根本原因是为了发音不走样。加 es 和加 s 最大的不同是加 es 后就加了一个含元音音素的音节，而加 s 只加了一个辅音。有些词加 s 后根本没法读，如 boxs, wishs, watchs 就无法读，需要加一个音节 es（读音 / ?s /）才能发音。而以 o 结尾的单词就不一定了，可以加 es，也可以直接加 s，如 potato、tomato 等。因为不会影响发音。

zoo 就不一样了。加 s 不会影响发音，而加 es 后变成了 zooes，发音就有可能不再是 / zu:s /，而变成 / zuis /。
