做研究讲时，study与research有什么区别

study 与 research 的区别：study 主要表示“学习”，由于从某种角度上说“研究”也是一种“学习”，一种探索究性的“学习”，所以 study 也常译为“研究”，《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》（第6版）对 study 的第一条解释是：the activity of learning or gaining knowledge, either from books or by examining things in the world，该词典对此的翻译是“学习；研究”——由此可见 study 虽然也可译为“研究”，但它仍是the activity of learning or gaining knowledge（学习或获得知识的活动）。　　

而相比之下，research 则是专门用于表示“研究”的词汇，指的是一种系统的、细致的“研究”（尤指学院派所进行的研究），其目的是为了通过细致的学习或调查研究来发现新事实、总结新的规律等。比如《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》（第6版）对 research 的解释便是：a careful study of a subject, especially in order to discover new facts or information about it；又如《麦克米伦高阶英语词典》对research 的解释是： the detailed study of something in order to discover new facts, especially in a university or scientific institution.
