another / other

1) another由an + other构成，只和单数可数名词连用。other可用于各种名词前。another +单数名词表示不定的“另一个”，the other +单数可数名词表示特指的“另一个”。例如：

This book is too difficult. Show me another one. 这本书太难了。给我看另外一本。

Of the three books on the desk, two are written by Dickens, the other one is written by Mark Twain. 桌子上的三本书，两本是狄更斯写的，另外一本是马克?吐温写的。

2) 还需要注意的是other+复数名词表示不定的“其余的”人或物。the other +复数名词表示特定的“其余的”人或物。试比较：

Some debates said “Yes”, other delegates said “No”. 一些代表赞成，其余的反对。

John is here, but the other boys are at school. 约翰在这儿，其他的男孩在学校。

3) other前面可带some，any，every，many，one，his等其他限定词。例如：

Will you come some other time? 你改日再来，好吗？

Please write on every other line. 请隔行写。

His other two sons went to the football game. 他另外两个儿子去看足球赛了。

注 the rest of也作“其余的…”解，可修饰复数名词，也可修饰不可数名词。例如：

the rest of the workers 其他的工人

the rest of the money 其余的钱

供参考。

another是指除本体之外其他所有物体中的一个，后跟单数名次。是泛指，并不限两个中的一个。另外还可以表示“再一个”的意思。

other是指除本体之外的其他物体，后跟表复数意义的名词。

另外the other 才是指两个中的另外一个。

eg:

The mooncake is so delicious,please give me another one.

There is only Jay in the classroom,other students are playing in the playground.

There are two apples,one is red,the other one is green.
