Ants

are

social

insects

that

They

biomass.

Up

to

a

third

(33%)

of

the

terrestrial

animal

biomass

has

been

estimated

to

be

made

up

of

ants

and

termites.

There

are

about

known

ant

species,

most

of

which

are

tropical.
