count的一些用法

That doesn't count.

通常在玩游戏或在赌台上总有些赖皮的人，输了就撤赖嚷着不算数，要再来过。‘不算数’的英文可以说：That doesn't count. (这个不计算在内)。或者可说：That cannot be included.（这个不能包括在内）、That's irrelevant.（这个没关系的）。Count解‘计算’，I lost count. 就是 ‘我算不清’。

对话

Girlfriend：I'm really upset with you. How could you?

Boyfriend：What have I done?

Girlfriend：Our 5 year anniversary is today and you've forgotten.

Boyfriend：We broke up four years ago. We only got back together yesterday.

Girlfriend：That doesn't count. I still want a big gift.

女朋友：我真的对你很失望，你怎可以这样？

男朋友：我做了什么？

女朋友：今天是我们的五周年纪念，你竟然忘记了。

男朋友：我们在四年前分手，昨天才再一起。

一对男女分手四年之后，刚刚再走在一起，女的就怨男的忘了两人的纪念日：I'm really upset with you.（我真的对你很不满）。至于那四年分手的日子，女的说：That doesn't count. 那是什么意思？

Count字除了用于计数，还有‘重要’的意思，例如：(1) The opinion of a committee member counts as much as that of the chairman.（委员会成员的意见，和主席的同样重要）。(2) Every bit of help count.（一分一毫的助力都很重要）。That doesn't count. 就是‘这不算’、‘这不重要’的意思。

‘很重要’英文可以说：count for much、count for a lot、count for a great deal等；‘不重要’则可说：count for little、count for nothing等，例如：(1) Brevity and clarity count for a lot in business writing.（公务写作十分重视简单明白）。(2) Believe me, his promises count for nothing.（听我说吧，他的诺言一文不值）。

此外，count还有‘算作’、‘视为’的意思，往往和as连用，例如：(1) I count my dog (as) one of my best friends. （我把我的狗视为顶好朋友）。(2) I count myself fortunate / lucky to have so learned a teacher.（我有这么博学的老师，真幸运）。
